Riding the quad can be very educational for the kids, especially if you take the time to teach them about their natural environment. What better time to teach them about protecting the forests and understanding the animals that inhabits the trails that we ride in than when riding our ATVs out in the wild? This is particularly true if we're talking about young teens. As it is, kids and teenagers are not very concerned about their natural surroundings anymore - and this is not entirely their fault. This is because they were born into the modern world where everything is digital....everything including their crib and toys have always been modern. Therefore, it's not surprising to find them totally oblivious to what is happening to the forests and greens in the world.
When you take the kids and your teenage children out ATV riding in the trails, take the time to teach them about being more responsible towards it....a simple lesson would be to show them that they should always leave the trail the way they found it. If there's rubbish all around, don't leave it there. Take the rubbish out with you. I know of many ATV enthusiasts who bring their kids out to parks and trails every weekend to help and volunteer maintain the trails. I applaud their actions.
Anyway, when you take your kids outdoors to ride their quads, you can also teach them about respecting the rights of the animals - the right to be alive and live without human interference. To do that, the kids have to learn to obey rules and not ride where they're not supposed to. And life is such a funny thing....when kids learn how to enjoy, protect and respect our natural world, they will also 'naturally' learn about being a more responsible adult and citizen as well.
So, you see? Riding ATV can be turned into a chance to teach our kids about being responsible.
